1ST WEEK JULY 2009 (6TH-11TH)

SQUIB DIARY

MONDAY 6TH JULY 2009
The Squib’s out. Cover story – SEX AND THE BENCH. Promised too be a sell-out. The NBA Ikeja held her monthly meeting today. Dave Ajetomobi Esq, presided. As usual, the meeting was well attended by members and was quite lively.

TUESDAY 7TH JULY 2009
Was at the Ikeja High Court. For a matter. My witness (defence) proved quite intelligent, almost to the point of entertainment during cross-examination. Let me give you a teaser from the trial.
Prosecutor: Are you not aware that it is against the law to give money to get a position?
Witness: I don’t know about that. But even those who rule us do give us money to vote for them during elections!
Can you beat that?

WEDNESDAY 8TH JULY 2009
Had a trial in the High Court today. The High Court at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Onikan Lagos. Ol’ boy, cross-examination can be so sweet. That is, if you were not the one under cross-examination. The Squib’s no longer on the stands. Sold out since yesterday.

THURSDAY 9TH JULY 2009
Spent 11/2 hours from Isolo to Festac Town for a meeting that lasted only 45 minutes. Spent another 2 hours to reach Ikeja, from Festac. What a terrible and wasteful way of doing business! For fear of worse traffic jams, abandoned the car to “bike” it to another appointment at Opebi.
It was not until 7.00p.m that there was breathing space to have a splendidly cold breakfast.

FRIDAY 10TH JULY 2009
Oh what a rainy, hectic day! The heavens opened early in the morning and continued to pour or and drizzle off and on all through the day. Was in court for a criminal trial from morning (10.00pm) till 5.00p.m. But my case did not effectively start until about 3.45p.m!

SATURDAY 11TH JULY 2009
Was yesterday rainy? Today, no less so. All plans of holding the Tigers week-end games and sports frustrated accordingly.
