4TH WEEK APRIL 09 (20TH - 25TH)

SQUIB DIARY
MONDAY 20TH APRIL 2009
The Squib’s out. The cover story:- JIBOLA ARIBISALA SAN: THE IROKO TREE LIZARD SILK? Attended to one case before a magistrate court. For some time now, three or even four magistrates sit “turn by turn” in that court. Thus we now have
“Early morning court
Late morning court
Afternoon court
Late afternoon court”.
God have mercy!

TUESDAY 21ST APRIL 2009
Was at the Ikeja High court for a case. Matter could not go on due to power failure. The generator ‘on duty’ allegedly caught fire. Saw so many law school students on court attachment programme. Many of them looked quite young. Or could it be that I am the aging one?

WEDNESDAY 22ND APRIL 2009
Spent some time at the Ikeja High Court before moving to Chief Gani Fawehinmi Chambers to mark Gani 71st Birthday at his Anthony Village Chambers, Lagos.
About a hundred and fifty people turned up for the event, including Muhammed Lawal Uwais, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour of the Court of Appeal, Ambassador Olusola, Dr. Fredrick Fasheun (OPC), Gani Adams (OPC), Adekunle Ojo 2nd Vice-President Nigerian Bar Association etc.
Two books on Gani were “presented” to the public. Some good money realised, shouldn’t be less than four million naira.

THURSDAY 23RD APRIL 2009
Was at the Ikeja High Court. For two cases only one went on.

FRIDAY 24TH APRIL 2009
Was at the Ikeja High Court. In the morning. Saw a judge ‘lecturing’ his rather large crowd of “interns”. After some time drove down to the Lagos High Court Igbosere and TBS courts. By the way why do security personnel in the Igbosere court greet on so expansively? Surely not out of love.

SATURDAY 25TH APRIL 2009
Even though many leaders of the NBA Ikeja branch were not in town, the Tiger Bar weekend sports programme still held. At the police college, grounds as usual.
In preparation for next week’s soccer ‘duel’ with the Archbishop Vinning Memorial Cathedral Church Youths Clubs, the Tigers’ Sportif trained at some soccer skills-shooting, passing, penalty kicks etc.
The refreshment at the end of the training was simple but delicious:- water melon, dough-nuts and Glucose D powder etc.
Won’t you rather be a Tiger? An active one for that matter.
